De PNY NVIDIA Quadro FX500 zijn professionele videokaarten gericht zijn op prestaties op het gebied van beelddetails, de sneller rendering en voorral betrouwbaarheid als het gaat om het precies weergeven van de pixels voor precisie op het scherm. De videokaart van deze klasse dan ook geschikt voor de de gebruiker waarbij de personal computer dient doet als grafische workstation,gericht op foto, videobewerking, ontwerpen, simulator en andere kantoorapplicaties. Daarnaast is de Quadro FX500 series goedgekeurd in het compatibliteitscentrum van Microsoft en 100% compatibel met Windows 8.1 en Windows 7 en Windows Vista waarbij men de Offciële Windows Vista stuurprograma's kan gebruiken indien nodig, gezien deze besturingsystemen met de een soortgelijke grafische interface GUI werken waarbij Aero een grafsch onderdeel is van deze aansturing. De kaart ondersteund de vereiste Shader Model 2.0 en de DirectX 9 standaard die nodig zijn voor een optimale werking als het gaat om recente Windows Besturingsystemen zoals Microsoft Windows Viste, Windows 7 en Windows 8.1. Door de Universal Driver Architecture is de kaart ook zowel forward en backwards compatibel zodoende is de ondersteuning van Microsoft Windows XP, Windows 2000 e.o. volledig naast de ondersteuning voor Linux, Unix Open BSD en Solaris.
Verder onderscheid deze Quadro FX AGP entry level zich ook als het gaat om de 128-bit memory bus interface die in deze klasse een degelijk 7.7 GB/sec memory bandwijdte realiseert. Dit is nodig bijvoorbeeld aan het laden van grafische bestanden die dan snel worden opgebouwd moeten worden, het renderen van Grafische gegevens. Met 6 Pipelines in het grafische process weet de kaart relatief hoge presaties neer te zetten en kan deze kaart dan ook worden vergeleken met een Geforce FX series AGP 8X. De kaart kan worden ingezet voor multimedia gezien de kaart gericht is op digitale signalen zoals DVI, naast VGA. De resoluties van 2048 x1526 en Full HD en hoger zijn dan ook binnen het bereik van de mogelijkheden. Multi display is uiteraard bij de Quadro FX500 ondersteund tot maximaal 2 schermen op hoge reoluties.

*DVI geeft een volledig digitaal signaal zonder kwaliteit of gegevens verlies en is HDMI gelijkwaardig als het om beeld gaat. Pixels worden door de 24-bit RGB gegevens stroom bepaald. Het is bij DVI mogelijk 2 parallelle verbinding te realiseren waardoor de bandbreedte wordt verdubbeld (Dual Link).
