2013 EU reissue on 180g vinyl LP remastred-Mike Oldfield was back into the extended composition game with Five Miles Out, continuing the "Taurus" series with the mammoth "Taurus II," an entertaining enough romp with references to Irish music, brass bands and Oldfield's beloved Morris. The true standout, though, was the title track, a paean to flying in bad weather that could easily double for Oldfield's feelings about the sort of monumental critical drubbing he was accustomed to receiving. "Family Man" became a huge worldwide hit for Hall & Oates.

Within the series complex, sonically optimized to today's standards New editions of the discography of Mike Oldfield his seventh studio album Five Miles Out appears newly remastered on CD and vinyl, in addition to various digital formats.

After the rather concise pieces of his album's predecessor QE2 Oldfield presented to Five Miles Out with Taurus II again a typical for him epic composition - to the delight of his fans. With a cover version sung by Maggie Reilly Single Family Man from the album Hall and Oates reached the US top 10 degrees.

During his musical contemporaries in 1982 marched to the beat of Teutonic synth beats, Oldfield reveled still undeterred in a sea of strings, bells, harps, flutes, oboes and drums - and, of course, masterfully arranged guitars and keyboards. Recorded with the cream de la cream of British musicians, including guitarist Rick Fenn, percussionist Morris Pert, the drummer Graham Broad and Carl Palmer (EL & P) and Paddy Moloney of the Chieftains, Five Miles Out until today none of its charm lost. In today best possible sound a milestone between prog rock, Ambient and World Music comes back.
