About the Author
Lasana M. Sekou is the author of 11 books of poetry, short stories, monologues and essays. He is still better know for his poetry, which has been critically compared to a range of poets, from Kamau Brathwaite to Dylan Thomas, from e.e. cummings to Linton Kwesi Johnson. The poetry and reviews of the works of Sekou have appeared in Callaloo, The Caribbean Writer, Del Caribe, The Massachusetts Review, De Gids, Revue Noir, Das Gedicht, Calabash, Prometeo, ChickenBones, Chimurenga, World Literature Today, Post Colonial Text, Caribbean Review of Books, and Boundary 2 among other journals. Sekou is an advocate for the independence and unification of St. Martin, which is a colony of France and the Netherlands.
