Beschrijving
Cast iron hometown battery bankThe mechanical bank has three figures each with moving parts as part of their mechanical action
The bank is in great shape and all the mechanisms are working
9.2" x 6.5" x 2.6" Tall
This bank is a 1950's reproduction of a turn of the century mechanical bank titled Hometown Darkies. It is more politically correct than the 19th century original portrayed stereotype black players. This one is titled Hometown Battery. It is made of cast iron. The same process was used to make this Authentic Reproduction as the original was made. Molds were made from the original Bank, hand cast in sand, then hand assembled, and painted
If you are familiar with the movie "The Natural" this same type bank appears in it when Robert Redford was a boy and he is in his room looking out the window at the tree getting struck by lightning. This is a beautiful Vintage reproduction of the Home Town Battery bank. It is fully functional as the pitchers hand goes back, the batter turns and swings and the catcher deposits the coin into his stomach.
