Speciaal ontwikkeld voor PCI Express borden en voor de steeds grotere vraag aan grafische capaciteiten van de de computer. Deze kaart was ontwikkeld voor o.a. Microsoft Windows Vista, omdat hier grote grafische verbeteringen in de grafische interface (GUI= Graphic User Interface) zoals, Windows Aero Glass zijn doorgevoerd. Deze grafische interfaces zijn ook in Windows 7, Windows 8.1 en Windows 10 doorontwikkeld en vragen veel van de systeembronnen van de computer. Deze effecten en het uiterlijk in Windows vragen dus ook meer van de videokaart vandaar de X-series destijds voor Windows Vista is ontwikkeld om meer met minder resources te kunnen realiseren. Windows Vista is de eerste generatie besturingsystemen die werkt met de (WDDM 1.0) Windows Display Driver Model Architectuur en software ondersteuning die overweg kan met de grafische moderne interface van deze besturingssystemen. De X300SE is dan ook met minimaal DirectX 9.0 / Direct3D, Shader Model 2.0 en WDDM 1.0 ondersteuning compatibel de laatste besturingsystemen. Deze kaart is geschikt voor de vervanging van onboard videokaarten als de grafische taken lang duren of dat de onboard kaart veel van de systeembronnen vraagt in oudere systemen.

De door Connect 3D uigebrachte Low profile uitgebrachte Radeon X300 Second Edition heeft een degelijke grafische processor ontwikkeld uit de Radeon 9550 en 9600 series, maar dan voor PCI-express interfaces en heeft een degelijke kloksnelheid. Daarnaast is voor de grafische taken standaard 128MB DDR geheugen beschikbaar dat zowel op geheugensnelheid en geheugenbandwijdte, met de 64-bus door de HyperZ III techniek goed scoort. De grafische architectuur bestaat uit 4 Pixel en 2 Vertex Shader Pipelines en dat is voldoende voor het dagelijkse werk. Men moet dan denken aan Internet taken w.o. videostreaming, MPEG decode encode, maar ook DVD Playback, standaard fotobewerking. Deze uitvoering is zeker inzetbaar voor basic (online) gaming met ondersteuning van Shader Model 2.0 en DirectX 9.0. Game titels zoals Minecraft, Call of Duty 1 +2 , Battlefield 2 (2005), GTA San A,Criminial Origins en Crysis Warhead al dan niet met aangepaste lage settings zijn acceptabel te spelen

De kaart is gericht op digitale connectiviteit en voorzien van een DVI-I aansluiting (Single/ DuaL-Link) ,deze kan worden omgezet naar HDMI zonder kwaliteitverlies of indien men dat wenst in VGA. Daarnaast beschikt deze X300 SE ook over een uitgebreide TV-out ;Component/ RGB / YPrPb (HDTV) waarbij ook full HD 1080i mogelijk is.
