Een degelijk alternatief / upgrade voor uw onboard VGA adapter? of een videokaart die in de basis wel compatibel is met recentere Windows Besturingsystemen ? Dan is deze nieuwe grafische kaart is een goed voordelig en een eenvoudige alternatief of kleine upgrade om een goedwerkende AGP systeem ook de komende perioden goed te gebruiken voor uw dagelijkse internet en multimedia taken.

De Asus Radeon 9550 GE grafische kaart is een zeer goed alternatief voor een goed werkende AGP 8X gebasseerde ATX en desktop systemen waarbij en gebruikt maakt van een onboard VGA/ Video adapter of oudere grafische kaart die bepaalde grafische standaarden of eigenschappen niet ondersteunen. De Asus Radeon 9550 GE ondersteund DirectX 9, Shader Model 2.0 en heeft de beschikbaarheid van minimaal WDDM 1.0= (Windows Display Driver Model) die nodig is voor het aansturen van de GUI =(Graphic User Interface) met Aero effecten bij recentere besturingsystemen. De Asus A9550 GE is een speciale uitvoering omdat deze grafische kaart is uitgerust met een 128-bit memory bus interface en dat betekend dat de er een hogere bandwijdte voor het het geheugen beschikbaar is en dit resulteert in een prestatie verbetering van maar liefst 35% ten opzichte van bijvoorbeeld de reguliere ATI Radeon 9550/ 9600 Second Edition modellen. Met de belangrijke 128-bit memory bus, 128MB DDR (Dual Channel) fysiek geheugen maar met een hogere bandwijdte van het geheugen is de Asus A9550 GE in staat om grafische data sneller te kunnen opslaan en dan snel te kunnen raadplegen. Dit is het proces tussen het fysieke geheugen en de GPU. Voor beeldverversing in games is deze hogere memory bus en maar met een bescheiden hoeveelheid aan DDR geheugen zeker een groot voordeel. Ook is de ATI Radeon 9550 GPU beter instaat complexere grafische taken uit te voeren dan de onboard adapter en voorgaande generaties om dat de GPU is voorzien van 2 Vertex Shader Pipelines, naast 4 Pixels Pipelines en is dan ook beter instaat voor het weergeven van comlexere grafische rendering met uitgebreide geometrische objecten voorzien van meer diepte, shaduw en lichteffecten.

I A-B compared VGA-DVI as my brother has identical computer, Acer 19" lcd monitor. DVI has whiter whites, beter contrast and more vivid colors.

Other Thoughts: Great card. I use the vga for projection! Hoping this card will work well with vista areo !

I primarily use it on a system running Adobe Premier and needed a Vid Card with alot of on-board memory and capability to handle the video editing - this card handles that admirably! Fanless...no noise...doesnt get any better than that. Plenty of ram for HTPC (MCE 2005 has 64MB Minimum), more than enough GPU power, DVI DVD playback is incredible. ATI control center definite plus. Under and overscan options are somewhat adjustable.

I got this card through research and my personal requirements. Fanless, meets HTPC memory requirements, AGP 8X support, DirectX 9 support (MCE2005 needs it), cost, manageability. I would say it meets all of these with one exception. S-video out on an standard 4:3 TV was disappointing due to the 50% of the time the system was met with a fatal error rate.

Gamer's Dad 5/4/2006 Great for breathing new life...

Pros: I did a lot of looking to breathe new life into my son's Dell Dimension 4550, WITHOUT upgrading my power supply. My AGP slot is 4x, and this card worked beautifully.

Other Thoughts: My son just wanted to be able to play Civilization IV, and this card gets the most from a slightly older machine with a 250 watt power supply. Make sure you check power requirements for your card!!

Had no problems overclocking this card using softmod drivers and ATI Tool. Very respectible and reliable performance (445/235) using stock cooling. So my performance ended up a tad below the 9600. Games, images, and renderings look great at 1280x1024 from the analog port on my new 930B monitor (which doesn't come with a DVI cable - the cheapos) and my "old" 191T+.
