Heres a nice vintage acoustic for a change. The Japanese made Ibanez 600-series were inspired by familiar American made flattop guitars such as in this case the Martin D-28. This 696 model was one of the higher end models and features selected rosewood back and sides, a spruce top, rosewood fretboard and mahogany neck. The neck on this guitar has a surprisingly slim profile, and may appeal especially to those accustomed to playing electric guitars. The guitar plays very comfortable and has a full deep voice like youd expect from a Martin inspired dreadnought. Its all original and in well kept condition. Surely after 41 years there is some play-wear and some dents to be expected. There are no alterations, save that at the nut some of the slots have been filed a little to lower the strings a bit. A nice feature is that the guitar comes complete with the original padded gigbag from 1975! The psychedelic Ibanez sticker on the guitar also came with it back in the days, and looks far out.
This nice vintage Ibanez is offered on consignment by the first owner, who bought it as his first guitar at age 15 in 1975. It would make a great player for any-one looking for a D-28 style dreadnought, but because of its originality its also a nice piece for collectors of Japanese vintage guitars.
The Vintage Guitar Price Guide indicates these between $400,- and $600,-. This is priced accordingly, but offers will be considered.
